Full Itinerary
Day 1 - Perth to Kalbarri
The Perth to Exmouth tour leaves Perth at 7:25 am and heads north along the coast. A lunch break by the Indian Ocean is included, as well as a guided walk through the rock formations of the Pinnacles Desert. You will pass through Geraldton in the evening and stay overnight in Kalbarri.
Meals offered: Lunch and Dinner.
Accommodation provided: Kalbarri Backpackers YHA with shared bathroom facilities.
Driving distance required: 575km.
Hike distance: 2km with a Grade 1-2 level.
Day 2 - Kalbarri - Shark Bay
Today, explore Kalbarri National Park. Hike to Nature’s Window and see the stunning rock formations. Take the Z Bend trail to Murchinson Gorge for the best views. In the afternoon, head to Shark Bay and visit a beach of white cockle shells. Tonight, you’ll stay in Monkey Mia.
Meals provided are breakfast and dinner. Accommodation is at RAC Monkey Mia Resort Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. There is an option for Kalbarri Abseiling Z-Bend. The driving distance is 450km, and the hiking distance is 3km, with a Grade 3-4 difficulty level.
Begin your day with an exhilarating adventure! Join Kalbarri Abseil and experience the thrill of abseiling down the gorge walls in Kalbarri National Park. No prior experience is required, as our expert team will provide comprehensive on-site training. We provide all the necessary equipment for your safety. Capture stunning photos on your camera, or ask our helpful staff to take pictures if you’re not participating. This exciting adventure can be arranged during your tour.
Day 3 - Monkey Mia - Coral Bay
This morning, you will witness a famous wildlife encounter in Australia. The Monkey Mia Dolphins will swim up close and be hand-fed in shallow water. Enjoy some leisure time on the stunning coastline before visiting the Stromatolites, rock formations formed by a microorganism. These formations are estimated to be an astonishing 3.7 billion years old and are still alive. Tonight, you will journey towards Coral Bay and spend the night near the Ningaloo Reef.
Meals provided include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Accommodation options include Ningaloo Coral Bay Backpacker Dorms or similar, with shared bathroom facilities. The total driving distance is 580km. The hike distance is 2km, with a Grade 1 difficulty level.
Day 4 - Coral Bay
Explore the Ningaloo Reef at Coral Bay. Snorkel in the warm turquoise water near the beach. Take a tour to explore offshore reefs. Enjoy the sun on the beach. Travel to Exmouth in the evening.
- The meals offered are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- The accommodation is Potshot Hotel Resort Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. Some activities include swimming with Manta Rays, snorkelling at Ningaloo Reef, and taking glass-bottom boat tours.
- Please note that guests cannot book Whaleshark Swims on day four as they return after the bus has left Coral Bay.
- The driving distance is 155km, graded as level 1.
Optional Activities: (pre-booking is recommended)
Coral Bay Ecotours offers the opportunity to swim with Manta Rays on the Ningaloo Reef. Please note that this activity is only available for competent swimmers.
Coral Bay Ecotours offers a 5-6 hour tour of the Ningaloo Reef. The tour includes all necessary equipment, such as a wetsuit, morning and afternoon tea and a buffet lunch of cold meats and salads. During the tour, you can witness the graceful movements of manta rays and go snorkelling at two different reefs to observe various marine life, including fish, corals, and possibly sea turtles and reef sharks. The tour also includes visiting the turtle sanctuary, where you can observe turtles coming up for a breath in the shallows.
Experience a glass-bottom boat tour on the Ningaloo Reef with Coral Bay Ecotours.
Join Coral Bay Ecotours for a tour of the Ninglao Reef on their glass bottom boat. Learn about the fish and corals under the glass. Choose from a 1, 2, or 3-hour journey. The 1-hour trip is glass viewing only. The 2-hour trip includes a glass viewing and a snorkel site. The 3-hour trip includes glass viewing, snorkelling, and visiting the turtle sanctuary. You can watch turtles feed at the refuge and open for air in the shallows. The skipper can even try to bring the turtles under the glass for you! Snorkel tours provide equipment.
Unfortunately, guests cannot book Whaleshark Swims on [day 4] due to their return time after the bus has departed Coral Bay. It is important to note that all optional activities in Coral Bay must be completed by 3:45-4:00 pm at the latest.
Day 5 - Exmouth
You will explore Cape Range National Park today. You will see rugged limestone ranges, deep canyons, and pristine beaches. Visit Turquoise Bay and Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, and relax at Milyering Visitors Center. The tour will finish in the late afternoon. It will be a great way to end your Perth to Exmouth tour.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals are provided. Accommodation is in Potshot Hotel Resort Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. Swimming with Whalesharks (Mar-Sep) or Humpbacks (Aug-Oct) offers choices, but pre-booking is required. The driving distance is 135km, and the hike distance is 1km with a Grade 1-2 difficulty.
Optional Activities: (pre-booking is recommended)
Exmouth Dive Centre offers an opportunity to swim with Whalesharks and Humpback Whales during the seasonal period of March to August. Please note that this activity is limited to competent swimmers only.
Join Exmouth Dive Centre for a day on the water. Start with a reef snorkel to see coral gardens and fish. You might see turtles or reef sharks! Then, search for humpback whales and whale sharks with a spotter plane. If the whales aren’t cooperative, the plane will find another group. All equipment is included, along with a wetsuit if needed. Enjoy morning and afternoon tea and a buffet lunch.
Day 6 - End of the tour in Exmouth
Unfortunately, we will say goodbye as you check out your accommodation at 10:00 am.
